Angelic Praises
Abu Narrates that Nabi ﷺ was asked about the most beloved words of praise in the eye of Allah he ﷺ said “ The words that Allah has chosen for his angels ” . He ﷺ then said
كليمتان حبيبتان إلي الرحمان خفيفتان علي اللسان ثقيلتان في المزان
There are 2 expressions (words) that are beloved to the most merciful , they are light on the tongue and heavy on the scales . They are ..
سبحان الله و بحمد سبحان الله العظيم
All praise be to my lord who is worthy of all praise . All praise be to my lord who is the greatest.
- Bukhari and Muslim
The remembrance of Allah is what gives comfort to the heart and soul. In this hadith, the Prophet ﷺ informs us of the great blessings that result from two short phrases on a Muslim’s tongue.
We are also informed that the weight of these two short phrases will be very heavy on the Day of Judgment when all of our good and bad deeds will be weighed against each other on the scale. Then the Nabi ﷺ said that these two phrases specifically are very beloved by Allah. This indicates that doing Athkaar of Allah and praising Him is among the best forms of worship .
This hadith also teaches us about the vastness of Allah’s mercy over us because He is willing to give us lots of reward for doing small good deeds.
